Short is easier in shallow water and small, close-in waves. Long gives you room to breathe in chop and swell. If you're only buying one, 72 cm is the least specialised of the three.
Before you order
The mast ships on its own. The alloy bottom bracket and the alloy top plate are separate parts — both sit as add-ons on this page. Tick them if you're building a setup from scratch; skip them if you're swapping a mast into hardware you already run.
Alloy gives up weight and some stiffness to carbon. In return it takes knocks, sand and airline handling without much drama, and replacing one doesn't ruin your month.
