Performance X Carbon Mast
At 12 mm this is the thinnest section Armstrong builds, and the 106 mm chord lets the foil roll into a turn instead of resisting it. UHM carbon adds 10% torsional and 10% bending stiffness without adding weight. The 865 mm is our favorite tow setup in Milfontes, with an MA590 front wing and a 130 stabilizer.

Three years of testing produced the most efficient mast in the Armstrong range. The 12 mm profile cuts a significant amount of drag compared with thicker sections, and the 106 mm chord lowers turning resistance — a quicker roll rate and a looser, more reactive feel through direction changes. UHM carbon and a refined layup add 10% torsional and 10% bending stiffness at no weight penalty.
The mast top and fuselage interfaces were reworked to shed material where it was doing nothing and reinforce the areas that carry load, improving load transfer and hydrodynamic efficiency. Rake is tuned per length for balanced lift, easier pumping and longer glide through maneuvers — including the moment you are packing away a parawing and the foil has to carry you on its own.

What it is built for
Downwind, winging, parawing, surf foiling, kite foiling and racing, and it is at its best in cleaner, efficiency-led conditions. It gives up maximum stiffness to buy glide, speed and turning feel, which is a trade aimed at intermediate and advanced riders: more time on foil for less effort, and easier speed to generate once you know where to find it.
