Downwind Mk III
Progression is the whole point of the Armstrong Downwind Mk III, a downwind foil board for riders figuring out downwinding and for those surfing downwind in short-period conditions. Its displacement hull raises paddling speed so you get on foil without perfect technique, and the shorter, slightly narrower outline with Forward Geometry foil tracks keeps things fun once you are flying. Five sizes from 6'11" to 8'2".

Displacement hull
The Mk III's displacement hull makes catching bumps noticeably easier. It is quick and efficient through the water, increasing paddling speed so you can get up to speed and onto foil without needing perfect paddling technique.
Outline & rails
The outline is shorter and slightly narrower than the previous Downwind board, improving maneuverability once you are on foil. Combined with the Forward Geometry foil tracks, this board wants to rip turns. Despite the reduced dimensions it stays remarkably stable: the rounded rails make roll stability consistent and predictable, so you are not suddenly thrown off balance in choppy water.
Design & construction
The Downwind Mk III is built around a pair of i-beam, top-to-bottom dual carbon stringers. Proprietary carbon fiber foil tracks are keyed directly into these stringer fibers, giving the board a stiff, responsive build that translates every input into performance.
