Proven performance, evolved
The X-WING Performance marks the next step in Armstrong's high-performance wing line. Positioned above the XPS Mk II in the range, it offers a more efficient, higher-aspect platform that excels when riding powered, generating speed, glide, and control without losing the signature Armstrong handling. Power builds progressively rather than aggressively, creating a natural connection between rider and wing and the confidence to ride harder and faster, particularly in the 12 to 18 knot range.
Design & construction
- Ultra PE X-Ply airframe: lighter, stronger, and fully waterproof, with low stretch and high stability
- Around 2 kg, versus roughly 3 kg for the XPS Mk II, most noticeable in the larger sizes
- Advanced material package: internal 50 x 50 polyester taffeta layer, Ultra PE X-Ply reinforcement layer, and a 0.25 film layer with 100% Ultra PE woven outer fabric, spreading loads efficiently and preventing tear propagation
- Reduced leading edge diameter and increased aspect ratio for cleaner glide and stronger performance when powered
- Refined sail design: cross panel layout for balanced load distribution, carbon battens to reduce trailing edge flutter, and added longitudinal panels for structural support
- Pink prints and four compact windows for visibility and safety in low light and busy conditions
