Pumping is a trade — lift gained per stroke against the drag you pay for it — and the trade goes bad at low speed, which is exactly where pumps are lost. That's the part of the curve this profile is shaped for. Link two waves that used to be one, or get back on foil after a bad exit without swimming for it.
It isn't a one-trick tail. Downwind, surf and flatwater all work, and the ride stays predictable. But if you mostly want to hold onto speed you already have rather than make new speed out of nothing, the Glide 220 is the better stabilizer.
